We have 365 meridian points and they are very important in the maintenance of both physical and psychological health. If you get a blockage in the flow of energy along these pathways it can result in illness or psychological disorder.
Blockages could occur in the energy flow even from disturbing thought patterns such as being traumatized or feeling anxious.
Acupuncture is another field of Chinese medicine that uses these same meridians points.

If you have a phobia of spiders, you react with fright and your nervous system releases adrenaline and you probably swear.When you subsequently think about that event, a thought field is created, this causes your body and mind to respond as if the spider were actually in front of you.
A series of tapping on meridian points is used and the treatment continues until the negative emotions are reduced.
You are then able to see the spider without the negative reactions in your body. The fear has abated. Your phobia has gone and you remain calm.
